Grand Master Chong-sung Kim

Grand Master Chong-sung Kim passed away Wednesday, June 10, 2009.

Grand Master Kim was recognized as one of the world’s foremost instructors and practitioners of the Korean martial art of Hapkido, diligently training for over 60 years and attaining the honored rank of 9th Dan.

Grand Master Kim’s time in Hapkido took him around the world. Including providing specialized training to the US Green Berets and the CIA. In 1973 Grand Master Kim came to the United States where he established a dojang in Alhambra, California.

Grand Master Kim has graced the covers of many martial arts publications including Black Belt magazine, Karate Illustrated and Karate Kung Fu Illustrated.

His presence will surely be missed in the Hapkido world but his time and devotion to making Hapkido flourish throughout the world will be felt for many years to come.
